Nur Ashki Jerrahi Circle: The St. Louis Sufi Meetup Group
|
In this Meetup we discover, through direct experience, the essential ideas, practices and techniques of the Sufi tradition. Sufism, the mystical essence of Islam, has produced such luminaries as Rumi and Hafez as well as influenced the shape and scope of western mysticism in America today. In this Meetup we experience such powerful practices as Zikr (the recitation of specific divine names), sohbet (spiritual discussion designed to bypass the mind and open our hearts) and tafakkur (meditation techniques that combine breathing with the pronouncing of sacred names). We also explore Sufi philosophy - its relationship to the Quran and hadith (oral tradition), and its universal message as interpreted by Lex Hixon, a major modern spiritual thinker and leader, and other important contemporary mystics. Come discover the essence of this rich spiritual tradition and its remarkable methods that can help us awaken from a state of division and confusion into one of wholeness and integration.
